Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail

The rail line between Kuraby and Beenleigh in South-East Queensland is a key bottleneck on the Gold Coast rail network. During peak periods, all stops trains need to be held to one side to allow express trains to pass through. This multi-billion dollar project will unlock additional train services with the addition of two new tracks. It will also be upgrading six stations, relocating two stations, and removing five level crossings.

The project is located predominantly through brownfield suburbia resulting in complex property requirements and hundreds of part and whole take impacts.

SC Group developed and has been implementing the land delivery program for the project. Key achievements have included:

  • The most successful early acquisition program in the history of the department with over 50% of the whole take impacts purchased via agreement prior to compulsory acquisitions
  • The management of hundreds of properties including maintenance work, security and demolition program
  • The development of a department first, lift ‘n’ shift program which has seen up to 28 houses be relocated to vacant blocks for public housing use
  • Successful negotiations of interstate land transfers from multiple departments and Government-Owned Corporations
  • Supporting impacted property owners and tenants find new accommodation including the transporting to open homes
  • Receiving exceptional feedback on reporting standards both within the wider project team and electorate offices

This project provides a clear example of SC Groups ability to provide a complete program of services from acquisitions to demolitions and delivery.
